The 2024 Hohoe Medical Outreach, organized by the Christian Missions Resource Foundation (CMRF) in collaboration with Tesano Baptist Church (TBC), E3 Partners, Lakepointe Church-USA, Biblical, CEF, and the Hohoe Local Council of Churches, was a great success. The mission provided free medical care, including general consultations, eye services, dental care, and counseling, to over 1,900 people across five communities in Hohoe.

Preparation for the Outreach

The planning process began in May 2024, led by Dr. Francis Osei from E3 Partners. After an initial survey conducted by the CMRF team, a small committee was formed, including key leaders from the partnering organizations, to ensure that everything was in order for the mission. Essential medical supplies and equipment were delivered to Tesano Baptist Church on July 12, 2024. The following day, on July 13, a team of 17 volunteers embarked on their journey to Hohoe, arriving safely despite a slight delay caused by road conditions.

A Week of Service

Upon arrival, the team settled into the Leisure Cozy Hotel in Hohoe, and the outreach began with an opening ceremony. The following day, all volunteers gathered for a meeting to plan the week ahead. This meeting established a positive tone for a successful mission, as participants from CMRF, Tesano, Lakepointe, and CEF came together to strategize and prepare.

The medical outreach covered five communities: Liati Teikrom, Fodome Amele, Paloma Hohoe, Avegah Hohoe, and Galikofe Hohoe. Over the course of five days, the team provided medical care to a total of 1,965 individuals, which included 655 males and 1,310 females.

Key Services Provided

  • Dental Clinic: A total of 132 dental treatments were provided, including extractions, scaling and polishing, fillings, and other dental procedures.

  • Counseling: 1,576 people received counseling, with 253 accepting Christ.

  • Eye Clinic: A total of 1,238 people were served, receiving eye glasses, eye drops, and surgeries.

  • Children’s Ministry: Over 1,500 children received salvation, and essential health items like toothpaste, toothbrushes, and deworming tablets were distributed.

The Closing Ceremony and Reflection

On July 19, after the final day of work, the outreach team held an exit meeting to reflect on the successes and challenges of the mission. A closing ceremony followed, with prayers, songs of thanksgiving, and recognition for the outstanding efforts of volunteers.

Afterwards, the team returned to Accra, with the mission marked as a significant achievement for all involved.

Looking Ahead

The success of this outreach was possible because of the generous contributions and teamwork of all partners. However, there are a few recommendations for future missions, including improving the planning timeline, ensuring sufficient counselors, and enhancing rest and meal provisions for the volunteers.

We express our heartfelt gratitude to God, our partners, and all the volunteers who made this outreach possible. This mission served as a powerful reminder of the importance of coming together to serve others. Thank you for your support, and may God continue to bless our work in His name.
