CELEBRATING 60 YEARS OF GOD'S FAITHFULNESS: The Journey of Rev. Lewis Fiadjoe

Rev Lewis Fiadjoe, CMRF Missions Director

A popular quote by Maya Angelou states, “Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.” In this profound statement, Angelou reminds us that the essence of life goes beyond mere existence or survival. A truly fulfilling life is measured by the quality of experiences that move us deeply, inspire us, and leave us in awe. In this sense, our lives should be filled with moments that bring meaning, ignite passion, and create unforgettable memories.

As I celebrate my 60th birthday on Sunday, 25th February 2024, I wholeheartedly agree with Angelou's assertion. My life has been rich with moments of passion and filled with wonderful, unforgettable memories.

My call to full-time ministry began in 1998. I resigned from my job with the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) and ventured into the mission field in Builsa. This area is located in the Upper East Region of Ghana. My primary assignment was church planting. I pursued this through medical missions and by sharing the gospel using the Jesus Film in various communities.

In 2003, I transitioned from the field to serve as the Missions Director at the Christian Missions Resource Foundation (CMRF). At that time, over 20 churches had been established in the Builsa District alone.

My work with CMRF came with significant exposure. My responsibilities as Missions Director expanded significantly. These included scouting and mapping mission sites. I worked with churches and other parachurch organisations to spread the gospel. I also led mission teams across Ghana and extended the work to parts of Togo, Benin, Uganda, Kenya, Ethiopia, the Philippines, and Jamaica. During this time, I had the honour of serving under Group Captain Dr Sam Annankra, the founder and first President of CMRF.

In 2010, I became the Coordinator of the Faith Comes by Hearing project at the International Central Gospel Church (ICGC). Two years later, in August 2012, I was appointed the Missions Director for ICGC. In this role, I had the opportunity to instil a missions-oriented mindset among church leadership, which ultimately led to a significant drive for church planting.

Following this, in May 2018, I was appointed Regional Overseer for the ICGC Northern Region. This role involves overseeing 48 churches and numerous preaching posts across the five northern regions of Ghana.

As I consider my life, I see God’s guidance, faithfulness, preservation, and divine provision. In light of this, and inspired by the words of Jesus in Matthew 25:32–36, I have decided to commemorate this milestone by visiting orphanages and prisons. I have decided to share my birthday with the less privileged. Through these visits, I hope to share the love of Christ. I also aim to bring joy to the vulnerable in society and minister the Word of God.

Join us on the 24th of February 2024 for this celebration. It is my prayer that this celebration will glorify God. May it also reflect His compassion for humanity.
